Your Laser Appointment, Step by Step
Before Your Session
- Shave the area the night before or that morning.
- Don’t pluck, thread, wax or bleach for about six weeks.
- Keep the area out of the sun, and avoid fake tan for two weeks.
- Skip creams, deodorant and perfume on the area.
- Let any cuts or grazes heal first.
- Tell us about any new medicine, including antibiotics.
On the Day
You’ll wear protective goggles. The machine makes a steady hum. Cooling soothes your skin as we work. Most women describe each pulse as a quick snap. The underarms, upper lip and inner bikini feel it most. Your first session is usually the strongest, because there’s more hair. Each visit after that tends to feel easier. You can ask for a pause at any time.
After Your Session
Mild redness and small bumps around each hair are normal for a day or two. Doctors call this perifollicular oedema. It simply shows the follicles reacted.
- If we treated your underarms, skip deodorant for 24 hours.
- Avoid hot baths, saunas, the gym and strong sun for 48 hours.
- Use SPF on any treated skin that’s exposed.
Shedding or Regrowth?
One to three weeks after a session, the treated hairs push out and fall. This is shedding, not regrowth. Many women worry at this stage. Don’t pluck them. Let them fall, or exfoliate gently.

Honest Results From Laser Hair Removal
Is laser hair removal 100% permanent? No. Laser gives permanent hair reduction, not total removal. Most women see far less hair after six to eight sessions. Any hair that returns is finer and lighter. A top up once or twice a year keeps your skin smooth.
Does laser remove 100% of hair? Not quite. Grey, white, red and blonde hairs don’t respond. A few fine hairs may stay.
